BabyNameSuggestion.com (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how you can control it.
Information we collect
- Usage & analytics data. We use Google Analytics (via Google Site Kit) to understand how visitors use the site — pages viewed, approximate location (country/region), device type, and referral source. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
- Gender-vote data. If you vote on a name’s likely gender, we store your IP address in one-way hashed form only, to prevent duplicate votes from the same visitor. We cannot reverse this hash back to your IP.
- Contributor account data. If you sign in to contribute name meanings, corrections, or origins, you may do so via Google or Facebook login (Nextend Social Login). We receive your name and email address from that provider to create your contributor profile.
- Your saved shortlist. Names you save to your shortlist are stored only in your browser’s local storage — they never leave your device or reach our servers unless you are signed in and choose to sync them.

Advertising
We plan to display advertising through Google AdSense. Once active, Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising via Google Ads Settings.
Third-party services
We use: Google Analytics (analytics), Google Site Kit (analytics/search console integration), Nextend Social Login (Google/Facebook sign-in), and — once approved — Google AdSense (advertising). Each is governed by its own privacy policy.
Couple Name-Swipe feature
If you use the Couple Name-Swipe tool, we store a randomly generated session key, the names you and your partner liked or passed on, and a hashed (not plain-text) IP address used only to prevent abuse of session creation. No account or personal information is required to use this feature. If you are already logged in via social login, your account may be silently linked to your swipe choices; this is optional and never required. Swipe sessions that are never completed are automatically deleted after 30 days.
Shortlist (saved names)
Names you save with the heart icon are stored in your browser (localStorage) so your shortlist works without an account. If you are logged in, your shortlist is also saved to your account so it follows you across devices and browsers — this happens automatically for logged-in users, with no extra step required. You can print or share your shortlist at any time from the shortlist drawer.
Name meaning notifications
If you look up a name whose meaning we haven’t documented yet, you can optionally enter your email address to be notified once it is added. This email is stored solely to send that one notification and is not used for marketing, shared with third parties, or linked to any other activity on the site. Once the notification is sent, the record is marked as fulfilled; you may request deletion of this data at any time by contacting us.
Data retention & your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you (such as your contributor account) by contacting us. We retain contribution records to maintain the integrity of community-submitted name data, with personal identifiers removed on request.
Children’s privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
